Friday Finds - camp style

Saturday, June 23, 2012

I just returned from girl's camp and you know what that means? Besides getting into a nice, long hot shower and then taking a nap?

Pressing more of these!

I can't be out in nature and not look for some ferns. There were plenty. My college roommate's mother is named Fern. Just a bit of trivia.

I also made a lantern for our lighting ceremony of the 100th anniversary of girl's camp. I liked the way it came out so much that I decided to make more for our deck. Super fun, super easy, super cheap. And they look all magical when lit. Anyone want to make them with me?

You don't know how badly I wanted to rip off the old camp sign from this tree. I love old signs. This was my campsite where I helped to oversee 26 girls in two cabins - whew! I am already looking to next year with new ideas and improvements. Until then I will enjoy air conditioning and won't have to worry about rattlesnakes...that's not the kind of Friday Find I like.

Have a great weekend!

My older girls make me laugh when they leave photographic evidence of their goofiness.
Teen-agers are the best.

A week of lately's

Tuesday, June 12, 2012

I have felt particularly rushed due to a lot of work related duties but this week should be a little slower. I am taking some time to get ready for girl's camp and then I get the next whole week off to enjoy the great outdoors. I am excited. I'm a bit burned out right now so being away from work will do me some good. Camp is a lot of work too but so enjoyable at the same time.

Besides being with my own girls and meeting so many new ones, I really look forward to those peaceful moments at night with the sound of the campfire popping and the occasional owl calling in the distance. There's something to be said for that.

I've been getting in to Zumba. I really love it. Exercising while you dance or vice versa? I'm there. This week we are learning a new dance.

Trae has been very mischievous. He's getting into everything like he's 2 again and giggles his way through and pretends not to hear me.

I've had a steady pace of photographic opportunities. Last week two families had me walking all over on some bike trails near the river. It was a workout but we managed to finish shooting before what seemed like a monsoon hit. Then they invited us back for cake. Not a bad gig.

I've run into some fun finds which I'll post soon - one is an industrial side table for the boys' room. I have to clean their room again before I take a picture. I told you Trae is into everything...

and that's all for the lately's.

Have a great day!
