Playing catch up

Hello! How are you?

I'm still here!

For as busy as we've been you'd think we'd be having a lot more exciting adventures. But in-between work commitments we have been able to have a couple fun things happen. For starters, Blair turned 8 years old and we had a big party for her at Jon's hotel with all her friends. We don't have big parties for our kids every year, usually opting for just a family dinner at the restaurant of their choice. But it was time for her big one and she was really excited about it. Instead of receiving presents she asked that everyone donate items for the Milagro House, a center for homeless women and children, in Lancaster, PA. I wasn't surprised by this at all. She is most definitely my activist and wears her heart on her sleeve. She collected quite a few items, which was great. (Her trip to the Milagro house will come in a later post.) Reese later told me not to expect that kind of good will from his party, ha.

And because she turned 8 that meant baptism was right around the corner. So in early November Jon was able to perform her baptism in front of many friends from church, which was another thing she was excited about...that and getting her ears pierced. Eight is the magic number for me on that one as well. She needed to be able to take care of her ears, earrings and their proper cleaning. So while I was at work one Saturday, Jon took her to Claire's. I remember when my mom pierced mine in our kitchen when I was eight. Didn't hurt a bit. I kept telling Blair that I could do it for her but she declined. I wonder if any one's mom does that nowadays?

(And of course I can't upload photos right now... maybe later.)
