This is the scene on the East coast right now. I just opened the door really quickly and took a picture with my computer. We have over 2 feet and 24 hours more of snow to go. The weather had been so mild I never brought in the patio furniture. Oops.

We're in our pajamas, snacks spread out on the table, napping in-between games. I loooovvee being snowed in. Everything is shut down, except Turkey Hill. This is the first time in 16 years that Jon does not have to put the car in 4 wheel drive and head in to a hotel to make sure all the guests are taken care of and that the power has not gone off.

My main job is Mon-Fri and from home for the most part so I have no where to be and we closed the shoppe today so I really have no reason to go out. For those that have to make it in to work, bless you and stay safe!

Delicate Paperwhites

Waking up to a new bloom of Paperwhites on a Monday makes me happy.

These are usually forced before Christmas but I like to wait until after the holidays. For one, they're 50-75% off and two, I like having a flower to look forward to on what can sometimes be long, cold days of winter. Their scent can be strong so it could be a love it or hate it thing. It was an acquired aroma for me but I could never dislike something that's so easy to grow and works magic on the soul.

Winter's last hurrah

Last night just as I was heading out the door to go to a friend's house, Jon remarked that he received a text message from Belen's basketball team captain saying they would have their donut breakfast if there wasn't a 2 hour delay. A two-hour delay? I had no idea.

As I walked down the steps outside, I felt a snowflake on my face. I looked up and determined, yep - those were snow clouds. As I was making my way home there was a dusting of snow on the ground.

I paid no attention to the news yesterday since the kids were out of school and the tv was dominated by Nickelodeon. I don't watch much daytime tv anyway except for Nate.

So as I awoke to another Winter wonderland this morning, I had to question Punxsutawney Phil's eyesight. He is 125 years old after all.
I went to his website to see how accurate he has been over the years and they say he's been 100% right.
Sounds like groundhog propaganda to me.

Oh well, at least it looks pretty again for a moment. And it feels like a good day to relax with some chamomile tea and dream of warmer climates.
Anybody up for Hawaii or a cruise to the Bahamas?

Nip and tuck - blog style

I thought it was time to spruce up around here so I called in the pros.

Along with the new look will come new categories. And, new categories means more fun.
