What I'm thinking Wednesday

Wednesday, May 4, 2011

I had a little write-up about how I felt about the celebrations ringing out over the recent national security news. But if you know me even a little, you can probably guess how I feel about that. So I decided not to post it. I don't like to bring down my little corner of happy so I tend to keep those things to myself.

Instead, I'm off to grocery shop and finish up that paint stick project which is 1/3 of the way done. Today will make or break the idea!

And I'll leave you with what's inspiring me today: Pink! Pink is a good color, don't you think?

They say redheads shouldn't wear pink, but I disagree. It's one of our best colors!

What I'm thinking Wednesday

Thursday, April 28, 2011

This morning as I was running some errands, I stopped by a store for a brief moment. When I walked up to the cash register I noticed a sign taped to the check-writing platform that said, "Please be patient with me, I am hard of hearing."

I wondered if there were people who had not been patient with her. Obviously there had which prompted the sign or someone anticipated that type of behavior and was taking a preventative measure.

It kind of saddened me. I thought it was a sad commentary on human behavior. We're so busy, rushing here and there and so far into the digital age, have we forgotten how to connect on personal levels?

And then I also wondered what kind of people would not give this sweet, older lady, probably some one's beloved grandma, the benefit of the doubt in this situation? I imagined if those people had a sign to tape up, what would it say?

Which in turn got me thinking about myself and what sign I would have with me, maybe taped to my forehead, for people to read.

Would it be kind? Funny? Would it be insightful to my personality? Would people read it and treat me differently? Would they be sympathetic? Would people say, "Ahhh...now that explains a lot."
I think today's would be, "It's the weather. Duh, you think I would intentionally do this to my hair??"

I think we all have stories to tell and maybe some warnings too. Some are good, some bad and some are not necessarily for the masses but if you wanted people to know one thing about you, what would your sign say?

Wednesday notes

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

Need a mid-week pick me up? Looking for a feel good story or a quote that says just what you were thinking or made you think about something in a different way?

Each Wednesday I am going to post something along those lines. Just a little tidbit to hopefully brighten the day.

I've been told that I'm too optimistic. Sue me.
At least I've never been told that I'm too pessimistic. Oops, there I go again.

I think everyone has value. Some people may have forgotten that and let things creep in and take-over their lives, just like this gentleman in the video did. I would like to hear his story. I could listen to him talk all day, What a great voice!

There are varying opinions on the homeless but I haven't been homeless so I don't think I can offer much insight. I just want to see Matt's interview with him tomorrow on the Today Show and see what's in store for him.

(Now I'm off to the thrift shop. We have a shop here that stocks the best craft items. I'm working on a pillow and like to look there for thread and fabric before I head to the fabric store. Everything is packaged nicely so I give the kids each a few bucks and they go nuts too. They'll be cutting and pasting all day tomorrow. Who knows what I'll find. We'll see tomorrow!)

Enjoy,

Laura
